My Philosophy of Classroom Management
- Set expectations of classroom rules norms of behavior up front
- Collaborate with students on creating social contract governing behavior
- Discuss behavior and co-create restorative practices
- Creative thinking outside the box in tailoring restorative practices to each individual student and behavioral context, but have some “buckets” of ideas/practices that have worked in the past for different kinds of students/behavior
- Second chance approach for all behavior apart from what must be addressed immediately with removal from classroom (threats, sexual harassment, acts of violence against students or staff, etc.)
- Be creative (think outside the box) in tailoring restorative practices to each individual student and behavioral context (but have some “buckets” of ideas/practices that have worked in the past for different kinds of students/behavior)
